In 1945 the Lafleche Branch acquired ownership of its own hall. This hall immediately became available for public use as well as the Legion's own clubroom.
In 1960 the Ladies Auxiliary was formed. On all projects there has been close cooperation between the branch and the Ladies Auxiliary. Their contribution in financial terms, over the years, has been extensive. Their contribution to the social side of legion activities has been of equal or greater importance.
In 1972 the Woodrow Branch #82 of the Royal Canadian Legion disbanded and joined the Lafleche Branch. The Woodrow and Lafleche cenotaphs were built in 1929 and 1955 respectively, and serve as a permanent remembrance of our boys lost in war. In 1998 the Woodrow cenotaph was moved from the village to the Woodrow District Cemetery. At the same time the cenotaph was upgraded. The Lafleche cenotaph in this same years was upgraded with a bronze plaque listing the Lafleche and District veterans who gave the "Supreme Sacrifice" for their country while in active service.
Our Legion branch is actively involved in organizing three remembrance day services annually. We have an annual poppy campaign in late october with proceeds going to our poppy fund from which we donate funds to our provincial command, to need veterans, or for purchasing items of eligibility within our health center. Since 1996 we have leased our legion hall to the Wood River Memorial Hall Committee for a token rent. Our Legion Branch currently is very involved in the cribbage, bowling, curling and golfing legion competitions.
Lafleche Branch #204 of the Royal Canadian Legion has a membership to date of 45 members. The legion meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month (except in July and August). Approximate attendance at our meetings is twelve members as many members now live elsewhere.
