The
Rural Municipality of Wood River No. 74 is situated in the South Central area of
Saskatchewan. Highway 13, the Red Coat Trail runs through the R.M.
as does the winding Wood River.
The municipality was incorporated on December 9, 1912 with its first office being in Woodrow. In 1926 the municipality purchased the Presbyterian Church building in Lafleche and proceeded to develop it into the municipal office. The Woodrow building was donated to the Woodrow Legion Branch. In 1967 a new office was built in conjunction with the Town of Lafleche.
A large part of the municipal operations is building and maintaining roads. In 1998 the R.M. upgraded to a Cat 160H Motor Grader pictured below for this purpose.

The R.M. of Wood River No. 74 is a major contributor to the first Saskatchewan Regional Park at Thomson Lake which was established in this R.M. in 1961.
The R.M. also supports the Lafleche Branch of the Chinook Regional Library, the Lafleche Wood River Fire Department and the Lafleche and District Museum.
